Emmy-Lou’s Charity Cook Ups is a grassroots, volunteer-run community initiative here in Maitland, providing free, nutritious and delicious 3-course meals to locals doing it tough - including people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic violence, and local families in crisis. Each week we cook and serve fresh meals, along with fruit and bottled water, always made with love (and a little old-school comfort food magic). We also support other local charities and community events by providing food and practical support, and every Christmas Day and special celebration days like Mother’s Day, we provide meals, gifts for all the kids, and a little love from Santa for families who might otherwise go without. Wherever possible, we spend donations locally at the Thursday Slow Food Market, putting money back into local farmers and our community. We are a grassroots initiative (not a registered business and not DGR), so every donation goes straight into ingredients and essential supplies to keep feeding people in need. Founder Emmy-Lou Carson is a 2x Citizen of the Year nominee and 1x Service Award nominee.

Our Committee
The leadership of Maitland Business Chamber comprises an elected board of up to 12 members including the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Executive Members who commit on a voluntary basis.
