Unlocking the hidden talent pathways in Maitland!

Businesses across Maitland and the Hunter continue to face significant and varied workforce skills shortages, while at the same time many capable and willing people remain underrepresented in the workforce. This means employers need to look beyond traditional recruitment methods and consider all available pathways for employment.

Young people, people living with disability, First Nations people, mature-aged workers and other job seekers often have access to specialised employment support programs, training and workplace assistance that many employers simply don’t know exist.

Education and training providers also play a critical role in this ecosystem, with TAFE NSW and the University of Newcastle offering supported pathways to employment for graduates, including placement programs that help students and emerging workers transition into local jobs. Their focus is to align their regional strategies with the national and state skills priority lists by focussing on training hubs, targeted enrolment funding and inclusive workforce pipelines.
