September Networking Mentally Safe Event Wrap Up

The Maitland Business Chamber recently hosted their sold out monthly networking event on Friday 27 September at East Maitland Bowling Club.

We were thrilled to have two exceptional sponsors and guest speakers for the day: The Bloomfield Group, our Gold Sponsor, led a thought-provoking session on the future of psychosocial hazards in the workplace, highlighting their Mentally Safe initiative. Their presentation emphasised the importance of mental health in the workplace, focusing on how businesses can proactively manage mental health risks and create psychologically safe environments for their teams. This comes at a critical time, as in October 2022, the NSW Government implemented amendments to the Work, Health, and Safety legislation, requiring all workplaces to identify and manage psychosocial hazards.

Arctic Risk, our Silver Sponsor for the day, presented an insightful discussion on integrated risk management, offering a fresh perspective on risk consulting and training. Their presentation explored innovative approaches to navigating the evolving landscape of risk, underscoring the need for businesses to adapt to ever-changing risk environments.

The event provided our members with invaluable insights and actionable takeaways, while fostering great networking opportunities. A special thanks to The Bloomfield Group and Arctic Risk for their support and contributions to the event.

After the presentations, our members had a great time ‘lightening the load’ on the lawn bowls field. It turns out we have a few hidden bowling talents in the chamber!
